The tradition of giving continues to grow at Kisco Senior Living. Associates from 21 Kisco Senior Living Communities came together to assist in building homes for four families living in substandard housing in Mexico. A tradition that has spanned for more than four years bringing over 50 Kisco Senior Living associates and their families together for one October weekend in Tijuana, Mexico, building Homes for Hope.
The goal of Homes of Hope, a program of Youth With A Mission (YWAM), an interdenominational non-profit organization, is to build homes for the poorest of the poor. "This experience was life changing to me and one that I will never forget," shared Kisco associate Kirk Thomas.
Kisco associates showed up bright and early Friday morning to build four homes. The homes are 16 x 20 feet and when complete, include a concrete slab, electrical wiring, interior sheet rock, roof, three windows and one door. Necessary tools, plans, site coordination, lumber, and materials were provided by YWAM, Kisco provided a financial contribution, and our associates provided the labor. An exercise in teamwork and cooperation, construction was complete by late Saturday afternoon.
Associates of Kisco Senior Living have built nine homes in four years with Homes for Hope.
