San Diego County’s best employers were named at the fourth annual Workplace Excellence Awards, hosted November 5, 2003, by the San Diego Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) in partnership with The San Diego Union-Tribune.
Kisco Senior Living won the Crystal Award in the Small Company Category. A blue ribbon panel of judges reviewed applications for a demonstrated connection between HR practices and organizational success. Employers that received a Workplace Excellence Award are known as "Employers of Choice" in San Diego.
More than 125 companies vied to win marble or crystal awards in small, emerging, mid-size and large categories. Winners represented industries as diverse as health care, computers/software and manufacturing. A grand-prize winner was chosen for high levels of innovation in HR practices.
The event honors companies that demonstrate human resource practices that have contributed to superior employee satisfaction and company performance. Non-managerial employees nominate firms for this distinction.
