Senior Housing Executive Honored
On November 13, 2002, Andrew S. Kohlberg, president and founder of Kisco Senior Living, was presented with the Seniors Housing Council of Southern California’s SAGE award. SAGE – Senior Achievement and General Excellence – is given to those who meet high standards of excellence in seniors housing. Kohlberg is the eighth recipient.
Kohlberg actively participates in community service and educational activities related to seniors. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Andrus School of Gerontology at the University of Southern California, American Senior Housing Association (ASHA), California Assisted Living Facilities Association (CALFA) and Serving Seniors Network of San Diego. Kohlberg has been an active and generous supporter of GenAmerica, and was the vision behind Kisco’s nationally recognized “Healthy Strides” wellness program for seniors.
Kisco Senior Living acquires or builds independent and assisted living properties in a campus-style environment, and has a stated mission of “Delivering exemplary service to seniors and their families with integrity, dignity, and compassion.” As stated by Kohlberg, only properties “nice enough for my mother” are considered for purchase. Kohlberg’s leadership and values have created a positive work environment for associates, which in turn has translated into satisfied, happy residents and a profitable company. The company has been recognized twice by the California Awards for Performance Excellence (CAPE) for their commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
